State Rep. Rylee Linting has introduced her first legislation of the 2025-26 term, which maintains flexibility for medical professionals, cuts red tape and helps keep Michigan communities healthy.

The plan, House Bill 4032, renews the state’s standing as a part of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact and updates existing law so that Michigan can remain within the compact permanently. The compact allows physicians who are licensed in one member state to practice across state lines in other member states without having to apply for more licenses.

“Making our standing in this compact permanent creates more stability and clarity for Michigan doctors and ensures they do not have to worry about regulatory burdens that increase costs or push them to leave our state,” said Linting, of Grosse Ile. “It also creates more options for patients. Telehealth is a great tool that many people in my community utilize, and this agreement helps make sure that programs like telehealth stay available across Michigan.”

Michigan originally joined the compact, which 40 U.S. states currently participate in, in 2018 and has renewed once already. Current law that puts the state in the compact is set to expire on March 28.

HB 4032 was referred to the House Health Policy Committee for further consideration. Linting recently began her first term in the Michigan House representing the 27th House District in Wayne County. The 27th District includes Gibraltar, Grosse Ile Township, Riverview, Trenton, Wyandotte and part of the city of Southgate.
