LARA’s involvement in placing COVID positive patients in nursing homes with non-COVID patients
RELEASE|June 16, 2021

Today we remember that we have lost over half a million lives across the country due to COVID 19. In Michigan, approximately a third of those lost were nursing home residents. As Chair of the LARA/DIFS appropriation subcommittee, I am committed to getting to the bottom of LARA’s involvement in placing COVID positive patients in nursing homes with non-COVID patients. As part of this inquiry, I asked Larry Horvath, Director of the Bureau of Community and Health Systems, to testify for a second time on his and the Department’s involvement in the making of this policy. The Bureau of Community and Health Systems – operating under the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs — is tasked with investigating and regulating nursing homes in Michigan. Director Larry Horvath of the bureau again failed to answer whether he provided a position on the Governor’s nursing homes policies. When asked about the nursing home plan, he even seemed confused on what the plan was. I will continue pushing for answers. https://gophouse.org/posts/rep-yaroch-questions-lara-regarding-nursing-homes-and-covid
