Rep. Borton encourages public to utilize Otsego County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day
RELEASE|July 11, 2024
Contact: Ken Borton

Event limited to Otsego County residents and landowners

State Rep. Ken Borton on Thursday encouraged his friends, neighbors, and the larger community in Otsego County to take advantage of the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day scheduled for this Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at the Otsego County Road Commission, 669 W McCoy Rd in Gaylord.

“This recycling event is a great way for us to get rid of those things that we all know we probably shouldn’t just throw away, but we also don’t know quite what to do with, so they end up just sitting in the back of the garage for too long,” said Borton, R-Gaylord. “No one is immune. We’ve all got expired medication, old smoke detectors, and electronics that probably won’t even turn on anymore. Events like this give everyone a responsible way to discard the waste that needs a bit more special care than we’ve been giving it.”

The event is made possible through the Otsego County recycling millage and grants through the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.

For more information on what items will and will not be accepted at the recycling event, see here.
