Rep. Pavlov leads push to strengthen recovery services across Michigan
RELEASE|August 23, 2025

State Rep. Joseph Pavlov is calling for significant new investment in Michigan’s fight against substance use disorders, urging lawmakers to dedicate $5.25 million to the Michigan Association of Recovery Community Organizations (MARCO).

Pavlov (R-Smiths Creek) submitted the funding plan to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity on Tuesday, July 29, inviting MARCO to testify and highlighting the critical role the organization plays in connecting people to peer-led recovery support, education, and community-based programs.

“MARCO’s work is changing lives by providing support, advocacy, and resources for people on the road to recovery,” Pavlov said. “Investing in these services means investing in healthier communities, stronger families, and brighter futures. I want to make sure these programs have the funding they need to continue their mission.”

The proposed funding would allow MARCO to expand its reach to more communities, strengthen partnerships with local recovery organizations, and deliver more resources to individuals and families who need them most.

Pavlov said he will continue pressing for the funding as budget negotiations advance in Lansing. Lawmakers are expected to finalize the state budget this fall.
