State Rep. Doug Wozniak this week voted in support of legislation to expand Michigan’s missing person alert system to include at-risk veterans.

House Bill 5387 would allow alerts to be activated for missing veterans with serious physical or mental health conditions. The bill previously advanced from the House Families and Veterans Committee, where Wozniak serves as vice chair.

“Our veterans have sacrificed for our country, and we owe it to them to act quickly when they may be in danger,” said Wozniak (R-Shelby Township). “This is a commonsense step to make sure law enforcement and the public can respond right away when a veteran goes missing and needs help.”

House Bill 5387 now moves to the Senate for further consideration.
