State Rep. Jason Woolford (R-Howell) met this week with officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to discuss the Michigan House Oversight Committee’s work to hold government accountable and protect taxpayer dollars.
Woolford, joined by Oversight Chair Rep. Jay DeBoyer, members of their legal team, and federal DHHS officials, met to discuss fraud prevention, accountability, and ensuring the proper use of both state and federal funds.
“I made a promise to stop out-of-control government and this economic crisis,” said Woolford. “The House Oversight Committee is working hard to hold government departments accountable. From the White House to the State House, we are working to eliminate the fraud, waste, and misuse of Michigan’s state funds.
“The best way to uncover fraud and abuse often comes from those inside government who see problems firsthand. Our government cannot change if people are too afraid to come forward. The whistleblower protection bill, House Bill 4781, makes sure that those who speak up about abuse and mismanagement are protected, not punished. Protecting these truth-tellers is how we protect Michigan taxpayers and eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse.
“This meeting was just one step, and there will be more to come. The Oversight Committee will keep pushing for answers and fighting for Michigan families.”
